5 things we learned from the Bristol City game

Well it was extremely good for 89 minutes and then all that got forgotten for the remaining 7 minutes. The game threw-up quite a few talking points and there are decisions to be made before the game on Saturday.

1 – Marco Silvestri should be dropped – It’s pretty simple to me, if you don’t play well on numerous occasions you should be dropped no matter what position you’re in. It helps that Turnbull looked composed and in command in his only game for the club against Doncaster. He deserves his chance.

2 – It’s too early for “tiredness” excuses – I understand that we need to rotate and we have had some long trips but Uwe was OTT last night. It’s August, the players should not be so tired that they conceded 2 goals in injury time, you cannot use that as an excuse.

3 – Uwe has to take some blame – We were 2-0 up and comfortable yesterday, so why did we invite pressure on ourselves by taking Antenucci off when he was playing very well? There’s also a thing as too much rotation. Liam Cooper was excellent against Reading and he was dropped for the Bristol City game, why?

4 – Liam Cooper should start against Sheffield Wednesday – He had one of his best games in a Leeds shirt against Reading only to be dropped against Bristol City which is a bit mind-boggling. He and Bamba have the most potential in a partnership.

5 – It’s not only Silvestri’s fault – As bad as he was, the whole team collapsed after Bristol City’s first goal. If Leeds had kept shape and defended as a team then we wouldn’t have been in the situation for Silvestri to make an error. Although I still do give Silvestri the majority of the blame for that result.

If you forget the last 7 minutes then last night was a great success and we’re currently 4th in the league! Unfortunately you have to count the whole game. Hopefully we can get our first win on Saturday.

Agree Bamba and Cooper are our best central defensive pairing, don’t think Silvestri could complain if he were dropped, rotation yes, but we have to put a side out good enough to win games of football, Wootton in front of the back four ? Taking Antenucci off, just invited pressure, wish the powers that be would sort things out regarding Byram contract, it can’t be helping his game. MOT
