A big summer is needed but who should Leeds be looking to offload

|

With the club offering up to a 50% refund on Season Ticket’s this year, I was probably the most optimistic I’ve been since Cellino arrived at Elland Road that he might finally be about to put his money where his mouth is. We’re now at the start of June nearly and there hasn’t even been a hint of any incoming players, it looks like we won’t be having a pre-season at this rate and don’t even get me started on the managerial situation, it’s an absolute farce.

There are many players who just aren’t good enough to be in a side serious about mounting a push for promotion and who I’d be looking to get off the club’s wage bill to make way for new signings. Here are five of them:

Giuseppe Bellusci
Bellusci
He would be the first player on my list, he’s an absolute liability. He may well be the best ball-playing centre-back we’ve got but as a defender you need to be able to defend, something he can’t do very well. There are too many mistakes in his game to be able to rely on him to be one of our first-choice defenders. Hopefully there’s some interest from Italy and we let him go.

Souleymane Doukara
Doukara
Chris Wood had a tough first season at Elland Road but 13 goals in just 33 starts isn’t too bad of a return and if he’s fully fit he’ll be a challenge for any defender next season – we just need someone to partner him. Doukara didn’t really get a look in until the second half of the season, at times he looked good but he really isn’t consistent enough. Get rid of him in my opinion.

Casper Sloth
Sloth
Sloth didn’t make a single first-team appearance in the 15/16 season, and considering the amount of rotation in our squad, I felt a bit sorry for him. I think it’s clear his days at Elland Road are numbered and he can’t exactly be happy having to play for the U21’s every week.

Lee Erwin
Lee Erwin
Erwin rarely featured and even when he did, he didn’t look good enough for a top six Championship side. I wouldn’t get rid of him permanently as he’s still fairly young so a loan deal to a top League One club could help him improve.

Marco Silvestri
Silvestri
Probably the most controversial choice on my list. He’s a very good shot stopper as we’ve said many times this season but the commanding of his area and his handling really let him down. I want someone who I’m confident in, who I know won’t come flapping at corners and crosses, who won’t lump a goal kick out for a throw in. For me Silvestri would be a more than adequate back-up but I don’t think he’d accept being that.

I’ve tried to be as realistic as possible. If I had my way there’d only be a handful of players I’d keep at Elland Road. Let us know who you’d like to see leave the club this summer.

Cant disagree strongly with any of your choices. Personally I’d give Silvestri another season so that BPFarrell could be readied for the first team. Still, we need to persuade him to stay first!

We have got rid of 13 players since the seasons end, and the chances of us getting top players in looks doubtful right now.
I would like to see a bit more of Lee Irwin after a tough pre-season ( or any pre-season!!)
Silvestri is the only goalkeeper we are sure of for next season.
I hope that wherever he is right now is is practising catching the ball instead of wild punches!!
It is really weird just now to speculate on anything.
Massimo has PROMISED us a SPECIAL manager, and we are going for promotion (again).
Can we assume that he must have someone lined up, to promise such a thing?????

    Can we ‘offload’ Cellino?

  • Jay says:

I’d definitely get rid of Cellino!!!

We should be looking to offload the toxic waste aka Cellino. No-one will touch Leeds with a barge pole while that lunatic is here.

With the huge bonus of getting in the premier league. I am surprised the chairman has not gone for it..we do need more players, our squad is the smallest in the championship..but we are one of the biggest clubs …Steve evans should be given 12 games to get us going (if he is on track go with him)….We will find it hard to attract coaches and players as we don’t give them time to settle in…But if the Chairman wants to sell the club he will make a lot of money if we were in the premier league…
ps ..the season ticket offer is not that great ( we only need 10 extra points on last season and we did not get a good start last season ) I am not fooled……………….
