Early Leeds United transfer rumours

The transfer window is almost upon us and with Leeds in a good run of form there are already some rumours flying around, some more obvious than others. The first thing Leeds need sorting is Liam Bridcutt, his loan has now run out and with Leeds looking to loan him till the end of the season and others looking to buy, it might not be the easiest deal to complete. I have no doubt that Bridcutt would like to stay here as he has been fantastic since he got here but Leeds may want to consider buying him.

The most common transfer rumour that pretty much everybody has already heard about is the signing of Kyle Lafferty. A Northern Ireland hero, a friend of Stuart Dallas and a very viable option in the transfer window. His goalscoring record isn’t amazing, however his recent form for his country saw them qualify for Euro 2016 and we desperately need someone to challenge Chris Wood, or work alongside him. At the minute we’re playing with one up-front and Antenucci or Doukara can’t really play there so we really do need another option. Lafferty is currently at Norwich but they’re showing no signs of playing him, he will definitely move on in January.

A more interesting rumour is that of Peter Crouch. The first thing that comes to mind is his wages, they’ll be massive. But if we could somehow get him on loan that would be an immense signing, the amount of goals he would score at this level is unbelievable. I firmly believe we’d challenge for the playoffs if we signed him. However I’d say there’s about a 2/10 chance of that happening.

The final rumour at this early stage is Patrick Bamford. Bamford was at Crystal Palace on-loan but had it cancelled by Chelsea recently, he’s likely to go on-loan or even be sold to a Championship team this transfer window. Leeds could make a real statement of intent by signing him, a young, proven at this level, talent. You’d expect Boro to be interested in him returning but they’ve also been linked with Ross McCormack recently. It’s all set for an interesting transfer window for Leeds, if we keep picking up results then as we get later into the window you may see some interesting deals. Obviously we need to try keep hold of our best players but it looks as if Sam Byram is nailed on to leave. Casper Sloth looks set to move on too, it’s a shame it’s never worked out for him.

We’ll be writing about all the Leeds United transfer rumours throughout the window.

Bridcutt is a must, very reminiscent of David Batty in that he covers the back four, wins the ball back & leaves the offensive work to the players around him
