Garry Monk set to make 5 changes for Leeds’ must-win game against Burton

|

Well here we are with just three games left. We can’t finish any lower than 7th which I guess is a positive but after the season we’ve had it’ll be awful if we’re pipped right at the last.

Burton away will provide another tough test. They’re fighting for their lives and a win could go a long way to securing their Championship status for another season. Here’s the line-up we’d go with…

GK – Rob Green – Kept the score at 0-0 before Wolves eventually found an opening. Needs to be at his best, we can’t underestimate anyone at this stage of the season.

Just watch this video, there’s no way we’d be where we are now without him.

Onto the defence…

RB – Luke Ayling – Would prefer him on the right to Berardi as he’ll bring the attacking threat we need. He’s linked up well with Roofe and Doukara previously this year and that’ll hopefully continue Saturday.

CB – Kyle Bartley – The best of a bad outfield bunch on Monday for me. I want him to stay next season but I don’t think he will if we’re still in the Championship next year. He’ll definitely start and should be captain should Bridcutt not be in the 11.

CB – Pontus Jansson – I thought Jansson was at fault for Wolves’ goal on Monday but we need him and Bartley to be at it on Saturday, he’ll stick his body on the line when we need it and Saturday will be one of those occasions.

LB – Charlie Taylor – We need Taylor’s attacking threat for Saturday. He was probably one of our most effective players on Monday and he was only on the pitch for half hour.

Into the midfield…

CM – Eunan O’Kane – I’ve no idea why he hasn’t been involved recently but we could really do with his graft an experience. I’m really hoping he starts on Saturday, he seemed to compliment Vieira well when the two played with each other earlier this season.

CM – Ronaldo Vieira – We missed him like mad in the last two games, he just brings something the other midfielders haven’t got. I think he’d have made the difference, especially on Monday when we were being overrun in the middle. Not bad for an 18-year-old playing his first season professionally. I just hope we keep him in the summer.

CAM – Kemar Roofe – I thought Roofe was quite positive on Monday, maybe if he had more confidence he’d have taken some of the chances on himself instead of being unselfish and trying to find his team-mates. Put him behind Wood and let him play off him.

Finally the attack…

RW – Souleymane Doukara – As we said yesterday we just seem to be a better side with Doukara in it. He looked decent enough when he came on Monday and was denied by an important save from Andy Lonergan after he sent a header goal-bound. Bring him in for Hernandez who has been poor for ages now and stick Roofe behind Chris Wood.

LW – Stuart Dallas – Stick him in for the grafting side of the game. He’ll be prepared to battle for every ball and he can provide decent crosses when we need it. Arguably hasn’t deserved to be dropped as much as he has, he hasn’t done a lot wrong and has come up with some important moments this year. Rest Pedraza, he wasn’t at it against Wolves. He’d be a good sub to bring on in the second half if we needed it.

ST – Chris Wood – A no brainer, we need him to be on it. Get balls into the box, provide for him and he’ll provide the end product.

This is a must-win, this is it. Don’t get a result Saturday and I think that’s our season over. Over to you, Leeds, don’t let us down.

To have Doukara and Dallas in the same side isn’t good, they’re both slow, I would prefer Doukara though as he hasn’t don’t that badly this season, if he had that little more pace I think he would have been a great player but I love his determination and the strength he sometimes shows and we all know he can score a goal when he wants to and we could with one of his outrageous goals against Burton. I would agree to have Roofe playing off Wood as Hernandez has been so poor of late, it’s quite frustrating, but if Roofe is on song and Wood is at his usual best they’ll both be a handful for Burton. I was really hoping Pedraza would kick on with games behind him, he was disappointing against Wolves but I’m really hoping that he’ll show something near his best against Burton.

2nd best attacker we have is Antonsson why Monk never plays him is be beyond me and thousands of others, he obviously has his fans in Roofers and Doukara, so much for his fair player rotation, 9 goals between them all season is really not good enough
