Leeds United player ratings v Blackpool

|

Saturday was different, we played extremely well in the first half and got the job done in the second. I know we were only playing Blackpool, but the team seemed to click. Under Milanic we wouldn’t have won 3-1, we’d have scored 1 and tried to defend. Our overall style of play is much improved. We’ll start with Silvestri..

Silvestri

Marco Silvestri – Match rating – 6 – He didn’t have too much to do but he still looks a bit shaky from his error at Cardiff to me. He’s clearly still a great keeper though.

SAm b

Sam Byram – Match rating – 9 – Back to his old self, it was like watching him in his first season, he was class. He was confident on the ball and went forward at will. Given that we have no wingers, this is a vital part of our game. He also started the second goal, magical it was.

Jason Pearce – Match rating – 7 – Had a solid game, after a dodgy moment to start with when he panicked in his own box. Did very well with the long-balls sent his way, especially in the second half.

Cooper k

Liam Cooper – Match rating – 9 – Had an excellent game, any striker would have been proud of his goal, a beauty. His defending was top drawer as well, he has that extra bit of pace that makes all the difference as a defender. I really like the look of him, I said it before this game too. Has to start v Blackburn.

Stephen Warnock – Match rating – 8 – As-per-usual, a great game for Warnock, definitely our most underrated player. Puts in a good performance every game, goes forward well and makes some very important tackles to bail others out.

Lewis Cook – Match rating – 9 – Just how good is he? It’s mental that he’s only 17. He’s got pretty much everything, pace, a good pass, a footballing brain and a decent shot. I really hope we give him a big contract soon, clubs will be watching.

mowatt

Alex Mowatt – Match rating – 7 – Another good game from Alex, there’s already rumours of Everton and Aston Villa being interested in him, I really hope we don’t sell. It’s another big test for Cellino. Mowatt and Cook could play in our midfield together for a long time.

bianchi

Tommaso Bianchi – Match rating – 7 – As Redfearn said, you don’t notice him that much but he does a good job. He keeps things ticking in midfield and plays the odd brilliant pass. Wouldn’t mind seeing Sloth though, looks a decent player.

ADRYAN

Adryan – Match rating – 9 – Adryan proved himself on Saturday, he was brilliant. He’d been good in previous games but he was the centre of everything good in the first half, also played a massive part in the great second goal.

Mirco Antenucci

Mirco Antenucci – Match rating – 9 – His movement was top class, I think he’s one of the best strikers we’ve had in recent years. His goal tally keeps on going up and he’s forming a great partnership with Doukara. Top player.

Doukara

Souleymane Doukara – Match rating 8 – He works so hard for the team but has the goalscoring ability to go with it. His pace is a real threat to the opposition and as he showed on Saturday, he will score. It’s good that we’re sharing the goals out this year instead of relying on one player.

I thought we were great on Saturday, now we need to beat some good teams. No better place to start than Blackburn away, right?

i agree, and if we had stuck with redfern we would probably be lying very close to the top of the table

re blackpool second half was a big chance to improve the goal difference but we sat back and looked vulnerable when Adryan went off so did our goalscoring potential I would have thought that Dawson would have replaced him and we would have gone on to score more goals.
