Leeds United v Preston North End Player Ratings

|

Well, slightly different to the Wolves game but a win is a win. It’s been a long time since we played badly and won, in a strange way, I enjoyed it.

Marco Silvestri – 9 – MOTM for me which showed what sort of game it was, we were fortunate in victory, it was a very tired performance but Silvestri made some massive save us to get us the 3 points.

Scott Wootton – 6 – Defended well, obviously limited going forward, it’s a shame that Berardi is injured as him on the same side as Byram would be good to watch.

Charlie Taylor – 7 – I didn’t think Taylor had one of his better games, he seemed a bit reluctant to get forward at times which is odd for him, but he wasn’t the only one who looked tired.

Liam Cooper – 8 – He seems to be coming along nicely, he had another good game against PNE and seems to have become a real leader.

Giuseppe Bellusci – 8 – One of his better games I thought, made a few really good last-ditch tackles, he’s still really worrying at times but you couldn’t ask for too much more than yesterday’s performance.

Liam Bridcutt – 8 – I thought Bridcutt had another really good game, he comes short to Silvestri to get the ball when previously we would have just hoofed it, he keeps things ticking in midfield and we need to make sure he doesn’t leave in January.

Luke Murphy – 7 – I thought Murphy had a decent game, he’s clearly much better in a 5-man-midfield than one with 4. He played a lovely ball through to Chris Wood which had him one-on-one with the keeper only to miss, again.

Lewis Cook – 6 – It just wasn’t the best game for Cook, he lost the ball quite a bit and there was a few occasions when he was deep inside Preston’s half only to give he ball away, frustrating.

Stuart Dallas – 7 – Another solid performance from Dallas, he put the cross in that led to the own goal but you could tell he was on his last legs, probably should have been taken off earlier.

Sam Byram – 6 – I don’t think he really contributed that much to the game but in all honesty, nobody did that much. It was a good win in that way.

Chris Wood – 5 – Chris Wood is really really frustrating me. He missed another one-on-one and it’s getting a bit worrying now. If he could finish he’d have 15 goals to his name by now. He’s cost us points and he quite easily could have done yesterday, sort it out.

Crazy thing with yesterday game is after there goalie got sent off, we played quite well up
to half time spreading the ball nicely, but after half time we looked more disjointed than tired, can’t understand why it through us out so much when the other side go down to ten men, surly its standard practice to play 10 v 11 and 11 v 10, but none the less good three points, don’t know why Chris Wood missing too many bread and butter chances, Wood apart don’t why we sold Mat Smith.
