Leeds United v Rotherham player ratings

|

A nice easy passage into the 4th round of the FA Cup for Leeds United after they defeated Rotherham 2-0 at Elland Road. Here are our player ratings…

Marco Silvestri – 7
Marco had literally one save to make, which he made. This should do nothing but help his confidence and it’s another clean sheet to add to the collection.

Lewie Coyle – 7
I thought Coyle had a fantastic debut, and how nice was it to see a natural right-back getting up and down the pitch. I’d love to see him get an extended run in the team but I’m 99% sure Wootton will return for the Ipswich game.

Giuseppe Bellusci – 8
Our man of the match yesterday for me. He won everything that came towards him but he went off with a hamstring injury according to Evans. Given our lack of centre-halves, that is worrying. We need to address this.

Liam Cooper – 7
Cooper put in another solid performance yesterday. He’s our most consistent central defender but he needs someone fixed alongside him, we can’t keep switching between Bellusci and Bamba every time one of them makes a mistake.

Charlie Taylor – 8
Once again, a brilliant performance from our best player this season. If we sell him in this transfer window I’m done. I wouldn’t want another left-back playing instead of him, for me he’s the best in this division.

Onto the midfield…

Liam Bricutt – 8
I’m so glad we’ve managed to keep him until the end of the season, he is a class above any other midfielder in our squad. He does the basics with ease and was everywhere yesterday. More of the same please.

Luke Murphy – 6
Murphy seemed to struggle yesterday but once again, I don’t think he can play in a two-man central midfield. If we stick with 4-4-2 I should think Cook will return for the Ipswich game.

Mustapha Carayol – 7
Making his debut, Carayol was impressive – getting the ball and running at opposing full-back’s. His goal was very good and it was a great way to start his United career. More of the same.

Sam Byram – 6
Byram put in a decent performance but it wasn’t his best. I think his days at Leeds are numbered and with Carayol coming in, I reckon he’ll be dropped for the Ipswich game. That’s just my opinion.

onto the attack..

Souleymane Doukara – 6
Doukara hasn’t done too bad since returning to the first team. He’s not a striker and is better when he is given license to roam and he showed that at times yesterday, he managed to get his goal at the end as well.

Micro Antenucci – 6
I thought Antenucci was poor, didn’t really offer too much and was caught offside far too many times. Not doing enough to become a regular starter for me.

Doukara was caught offside MUCH more than Antenucci – and he worked hard. The 2 man forward line was MUCH better than what we’ve been dished up with recently with long balls not efectively kicked to one mand up front! Overall a much better all round team performance

Great starts from Carayol and Coyle. Please put our talented players on longer contracts or we are always going to have Byram situations.MOT
