The Brighton Awakening

|

After a poor performance against Brighton, Leeds players need to pick their heads up and get their minds right. This would of course include our coaching staff. From the beginning, it was as if we had NO IDEA WHO WE WERE PLAYING AGAINST! Surely, there was some scouting done? Since coach Hockaday was not coaching in the Championship last season, us-fans can fill him in… Dear Dave, Brighton has fast players in general and wing players who will expose flanks and make teams work hard. We have Watford up next and I hope you have more in your tactical skill set than just the 4-4-2 Diamond.
Moving on… I hope that we can sign some more players, particularly wingers, who will run at defenses and disrupt even the most organized squads we will face this season. For me, Austin needs a rest. He is great at full steam but over the past season (really since he hurt his ankle 2 seasons back) his passing has gone from decent to poor and at time is a liability when recovering defensively. We need to get him some help and some rest. I feel like that Cook has great potential and is a speedy player however, I feel like throwing him in the mix maybe too much pressure for the youth player. We need another defensive minded midfielder. We missed out on Viviani and I feel like he would have been the defensive mid that we really could use currently. As far as the attacking midfielders go, we have too many it appears. Murphy has, in my opinion, not earned up to much of his 1 million pound transfer. That said; we have Bianchi, who can play anywhere really, Benidicic, Murphy, and possibly Adryan. That’s too many of the same player really.
Going into the next match, I feel like Ajose may not be the best player but currently he needs to start alongside Sharp. His speed surprises teams and can open up play a bit. Mr. Giulianelli has explained to Yorkshire Radio that we are after a LW player Ignacio Lores Varela, who plays at Palermo in Serie A. We need more speedy players like that. Let’s hope the team will get better organized and for some more transfers before the next match!

Middlesbrough well organised and tactically aware. Brighton, disorganised, wrong selection, clueless. My Gran was more tactically aware of the need for change than Hock. Why in God’s name haven’t the directors provided wingers. Every side in the world knows how to neutralise our midfield! I have some sympathy with Hock in that respect, but McDermott had the same issue. He COULD NOT DO HIS JOB because he had no wingers FFS.

Couldnt agree more,we need players who are up to the rigours of Championship football. Not run of the mill B+ players, who are clearly not good enough…

I don’t know how you can say the Italian imports are clearly not good enough because very few of them have had a game yet.

Exactly.. why sign players and then leave them on the bench?….the lot from last season are not good enough…

Peter, I think too many fans’ are jumping the gun when criticising the foriegn players. Hockaday seems hell bent on playing as much as possible a warnock/McDermot team, you know, that lot that nearly got us relegated last season. Austin, Warnock, Murphy, Pearce, Tonge, BYRAM, Smith and even Norris making the bench against Brighton and 2 English C+ players (Ajose + Cooper).
So was it really all these Italian ‘B+’ players that were diabolical and not good enough on Tuesday? We have not seen them yet so how can anyone criticise them. On a side note we are going nowhere with a failed E+ coach,
